This was a Microsoft Fuse Labs internship project made in collaboration with Andy Sigler. Using Microsoft Research’s sentient analysis API, we made a prototype of a system of shared bikes that can express a range of personalities, expressing their emotions through sound and movement.
We thought it would be meaningful if bike riders could somehow empathize with the bikes they use & share with others; so they would take better care of the bikes. Each bike would get assigned a certain personality trait based on its travel history. We created a mock-up scenario based on CitiBike’s publicly available trip history data.
